Vol 21 No 1 (2025)

The start of 2025 finds Indonesia at a pivotal yet challenging crossroads, navigating a domestic landscape marked by a "perfect storm" of socioeconomic and political pressures. Economically, the nation is grappling with its lowest first-quarter growth since 2021, a slowdown that has exacerbated the rising cost of living and the widespread scarcity of 3kg LPG canisters. This economic strain, compounded by rising unemployment and diminished purchasing power, has widened the gap of social inequality, triggering a wave of student-led protests against policies perceived as repressive. Simultaneously, the national discourse is dominated by persistent legal polemics regarding high-level administrative authenticity and the controversial revisions to the TNI Law and labor regulations. These interconnected issues reflect a period of intense scrutiny over governance and the rule of law, demanding a rigorous academic response to understand the shifting dynamics of public communication and state-society relations in this increasingly polarized climate.

Beyond political and economic friction, the nation faces an urgent ecological crisis following devastating floods and landslides in Sumatra, alongside the critical public health mission to reduce stunting rates below 14% while managing a surge in non-communicable diseases like diabetes and hypertension. In this context, the Acta Diurna Journal serves as a vital bridge of knowledge between researchers and the public, providing a platform for academic freedom and social responsibility. We believe that only by adhering to high academic standards can the ideas presented here offer a real impact and address the complex needs of society. While we acknowledge the inherent shortcomings in any human endeavor , we remain dedicated to improvement and value reader input for future editions. We thank our readers for their continued trust as we strive to illuminate the path toward our national ideals.
