Authorship Criteria

Journal of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Research (JABER) establishes authorship criteria to ensure that every individual listed as an author has made a substantial scientific contribution and takes full responsibility for the published work. Authorship assignment must strictly uphold the principles of academic integrity, transparency, accountability, and publication ethics in agricultural and biosystems engineering.

1. Authorship Criteria
Every individual listed as an author in the Journal of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Research (JABER) must meet all of the following criteria:

- Substantially contributed to the conceptualization or design of the study, system/technology design, experimental/field implementation, data collection, analysis and interpretation of data, or development of the manuscript's scientific substance.
- Actively participated in drafting the initial manuscript or critically revising it for intellectual content and technical/engineering substance.
- Provided final approval of the version to be submitted, revised, and published.
- Agreed to be accountable for all aspects and integrity of the scientific work, ensuring that any questions related to accuracy, data validity, and research ethics are appropriately addressed.

2. Corresponding Author
The corresponding author acts on behalf of all co-authors and bears primary responsibility for communicating with the editorial board throughout the submission, peer review, revision, and publication process.

The corresponding author must ensure that:
- All authors have approved the submitted manuscript and the order of authorship.
- Conflict of interest declarations and ethical approvals are completed.
- The final approved version is the version submitted for publication.

3. Authorship Order and Changes
The order of authors must be determined based on joint agreement among all authors, taking into account their respective scientific contributions.

Any proposed changes to the author list (addition, deletion, or reordering of names) or changes to the corresponding author after manuscript submission must include:
- A clear and rational scientific justification from the corresponding author.
- Written confirmation signed by all authors (including any added or removed authors).
- Official approval from the Editor-in-Chief / Managing Editor of JABER.

4. Unethical Authorship Practices
Journal of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Research (JABER) strictly prohibits all forms of unethical authorship practices, including:

- Gift Authorship: Listing an individual as an author who has not made a sufficient scientific contribution.
- Guest Authorship: Listing an individual solely based on position, rank, reputation, or honorific reasons without meeting authorship criteria.
- Ghost Authorship: Omitting or failing to credit individuals who made substantial contributions to the writing or scientific analysis of the manuscript.

Individuals or parties providing only technical laboratory assistance, equipment/facility access, administrative aid, funding, or general language editing—without meeting the authorship criteria—should not be listed as authors. Such contributions should instead be acknowledged in the Acknowledgements section.

5. Author Contribution Statement
JABER promotes transparency regarding author roles. Authors are strongly encouraged to detail each author's contribution using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) in the manuscript, covering roles such as:
Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal Analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing – Original Draft, Writing – Review & Editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project Administration, and Funding Acquisition.

The contribution statement must reflect the actual role of each individual and does not relieve any author of shared responsibility for the integrity of the work.

6. Responsibility and Ethical Compliance
All authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted manuscript is original work, free from plagiarism, data fabrication, or falsification. The manuscript must not be under simultaneous consideration by any other publication. Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest and comply with relevant research ethics standards.

By submitting a manuscript to Journal of Agricultural and Biosystem Engineering Research (JABER), authors declare that all authorship information provided is accurate, truthful, and approved by all relevant parties in accordance with academic integrity standards.

JABER reserves the right to request clarification, experimental evidence, or supporting documentation if unethical authorship practices are suspected, and will address such matters in accordance with Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines.
