Enhancing Collaborative Governance for Sustainable Water Resource Management Regulations: Challenges and Opportunities in the Context of SDGs
Abstract
Sustainable water resource management is a critical factor in the successful attainment of the Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs). The multifaceted challenges inherent in water resource management, such as
scarcity, pollution, and climate change, call for a collaborative governance model that incorporates the
perspectives and participation of various stakeholders. This research aims to delve into the challenges and
opportunities present in strengthening collaborative governance mechanisms for sustainable water
resource management regulations, with the ultimate goal of identifying strategies to enhance their efficacy.
Adopting a normative approach, this study will explore the theoretical underpinnings of collaborative
governance, critically assess the current regulatory framework governing water management in Indonesia,
and investigate the intricate relationship between collaborative governance practices and the
achievement of water-related SDG targets. Through a comprehensive analysis of these factors, this
research seeks to generate valuable insights that can inform the development of effective policies and
strategies aimed at fostering sustainable and equitable water resource management practices in Indonesia.
The anticipated outcomes of this research hold significant potential to contribute to the broader discourse
on sustainable water resource management, offering practical recommendations for policymakers,
practitioners, and other stakeholders engaged in the pursuit of water security and environmental
sustainability.
