Author Guidelines
Type of paper
Journal of Biodiversity and Maritime Study welcomes full research papers, review articles, and brief communications about previously published articles. Full research papers contain about 3000-5000 words (Introduction to Conclusion). Please ensure that the manuscript is proofread several times by the author(s) and that the structure follows the guidelines (sections, references, quality of the figures, etc.) before submitting it.
Publication fee
Journal of Biodiversity and Maritime Study is an open-access journal that is free to access and read online. There is free APC for the author.
Article Preparation
The article should be prepared using standard word processor software (e.g., Microsoft Word ®), in Indonesian or English, in a single column in Times New Roman font with a size of 12, space of 1.5, page size of A4, left and top margins of 3 cm, and right and bottom margins of 2.5 cm.
Article structure
The article's main heading should use the bold font, All CAPS, without numbering. Main Heading Sections including ABSTRACT, INTRODUCTION, EXPERIMENTAL SECTION, RESULTS AND DISCUSSION, CONCLUSION, ACKNOWLEDGMENT (optional), REFERENCES. The subheading should use the bold font, capital first letter, without numbering (for example, Sample Preparation, Minimum Inhibitory and Lethal Concentrations The, etc.).
Title
Article title (maximum of 20 words), write in English and Indonesian. Author name and affiliation, mark with superscript numbering 1,2, etc., of different author affiliations. The corresponding author marked with a superscript asterisk “*,” would be used to mark the email address of the corresponding author above the all-author affiliation
Abstract
The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, methodology, main result, and significant conclusions. The abstract should not be more than 250 words.
Keywords
Provide five alphabetically ordered words using the same language as the abstract.
Introduction
Provide a brief background of the project and the objectives in a literature review without going into too much detail.
Experimental Section
Materials and instruments necessary for the work should be provided. The research method should be described sufficiently for the work to be replicated. Those already published methods should be referenced; only relevant modifications should be described.
Results and Discussion
The results and discussion sections should be combined clearly and concisely. They should explain the significance of the results, not repeat them. It is best to avoid extensive citations and discussions of published literature.
Conclusions
There should be a short conclusion section that summarizes the study's main findings.
Acknowledgment
Supporting grants, collaboration, or institutions can be placed in this section.
Appendices / Supplementary data
Only the necessary data can be included in the appendices (print version). Supporting data/information for online publication can be submitted in a separate manuscript file.
Math formulae
Present simple formulae in the line of standard text where possible and use the solidus (/) instead of a horizontal line for small fractional terms, e.g., X/Y. In principle, variables are to be presented in italics. Powers of e are often more conveniently denoted by exp.
Figure
Figure artwork (digital photograph, chromatogram, scheme) should be clear with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi. Artwork or scheme prepared using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint
Figure caption
Ensure each figure has a caption, place below the figure, center alignment, and sentence case, and avoid using uncommon abbreviations. Use the bold font of the figure caption (e.g., Figure 1. Temperature effect on antimicrobial activity)
Table
Use a horizontal border on the table header and the last line without a vertical border. Place the table caption above the table. A footnote (if necessary) should be placed below the table in a smaller font size than the table font.
References
Type
At least 80% of the references used are journal articles and recent references (a maximum of ten years old).
Style
The reference style used is according to the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th edition. It is highly recommended that you use a reference manager such as Mendeley to organize the references.
