Abstrak

Background: Over the past two decades, a growing issue associated with aging is the occurrence of joint inflammation, known as arthritis (Elders, 2000). In Indonesia, the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) results indicated an average prevalence of joint diseases among individuals aged ≥ 15 years at 7.3% (Ministry of Health, 2018). Arthritis is a condition causing disruptions in activities due to the pain it generates. Based on interviews with personnel at the Sumbang 2 Community Health Center, data show that arthritis ranks 8th among the most prevalent diseases. Susukan Village, as part of the coverage area of the Sumbang 2 Community Health Center, has a considerable number of arthritis cases but lacks in-depth examination. According to the village head's interview data, there have been no previous activities in the village related to joint issues. The geographical location of the village, with uneven terrain at the foot of Mount Slamet, also increases the potential joint burden on its residents.

Objective: Through the community development program, it is expected that health cadres can acquire knowledge and skills in preventing and managing joint problems through various activities such as examinations, appropriate physical activities, and the consumption of foods and supplements. The improvement in the knowledge score of cadres is measured by comparing pre and post-test scores.

Method: The community development program is a three-year implementation plan. In the first year, activities target two groups: cadres and the elderly. Cadre activities include Focus Group Discussions (FGD), health education, and demonstrations of uric acid examinations. For the elderly, health examinations are conducted using quantum resonance.

Results: Health education activities in Susukan Village show an increase in knowledge based on the average pre-test and post-test scores. The average pre-test score is 44.62, while the post-test score is 64.49. The paired t-test analysis results reveal a p-value of 0.00, indicating a significant difference in the knowledge scores of health cadres in Susukan Village, Sumbang Subdistrict, regarding the understanding of the recognition and management of joint disorders before and after education.

Conclusion: The community development program is a continuous activity in addressing a specific issue, in this case, joint problems. Education activities are followed by follow-up actions to detect joint and bone problems in the community, especially among the elderly.
