Abstrak
The large volume of household waste is a problem, as well as an opportunity to solve the waste problem at the source. One of the efforts that has been made is technical training for making simple composters. A composter is a tool used to convert organic waste into compost through a decomposition process. The partners and audiences involved in Community Service Application of Science and Technology activities are administrators and residents of RW 05, Sumampir Village, North Purwokerto District, Banyumas Regency. This Community Service activity purposes to provide technical training in processing household waste using simple composter installations as well as technical training in designing and making simple composters from used materials. The benefits obtained are that the problem of household waste can be resolved and quality organic compost can be produced. The audience's response to technical training activities has been observed through questionnaires. Based on the responses, an average success achievement value was obtained of 81%. The highest achievement was 88% for support for technical training activities as a vehicle for disseminating appropriate technology to society. Meanwhile, the lowest achievement was 71% for participants' belief that implementing the results of technical training would obtain optimal compost results. One of the supporting factors for this activity is the relatively simple design of the composter which is made from a plastic drum and does not require a large space, so it is easy to place in the outdoor and indoor parts of the house, including the kitchen. Apart from that, the support from partners and target audiences is very large for technical training in manufacturing simple household-scale composter installations. Meanwhile, one of the inhibiting factors for this activity is that technical training participants are still limited and have not reached the entire community
