Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Proceeding ICol-Gas implements a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic contribution of each submitted manuscript. The process consists of four stages:

  1. Screening

At this initial stage, the Editor conducts a preliminary assessment of the manuscript metadata to ensure compliance with basic international publication standards. The evaluation includes:

  • The title, which must reflect novelty, a specific research problem, and/or a clear proposed idea;
  • The abstract, which must include background, objectives, methodology, findings, conclusions, and scholarly contribution;
  • Keywords, which should employ well-established legal or academic concepts;
  • Abstract length, ranging from 200 to 250 words;
  • Language quality, requiring academic English that is not merely literal translation, but conveys the substance accurately using proper scientific terminology.

The decision at this stage is either rejection or proceeding to pre-review.

  1. Pre-Review

At this stage, the Editor evaluates the manuscript’s compliance with the author guidelines and template, reflecting the technical and academic standards of an international proceeding. The assessment includes:

  • A minimum of 20 primary references (journals or proceedings) with DOI, of which at least 20% must be international references, preferably indexed in Scopus;
  • A manuscript length of 4000–5000 words, excluding title, abstract, keywords, and references;
  • A clear separation between results and discussion sections to ensure data adequacy and proper theoretical interpretation;
  • The use of clear and accurate academic English suitable for an international readership;
  • Academic integrity checks, including similarity, AI usage, and self-citation, conducted by the assigned Section Editor.

The decision at this stage is revision, rejection, or proceeding to the review stage.

  1. Review

In this stage, the manuscript undergoes a substantive evaluation. The Editor may conduct the review directly or assign qualified reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript’s scope. The evaluation focuses on: analytical depth, theoretical relevance, scientific contribution, and originality. Only manuscripts that are accepted will proceed to publication.

  1. Production

At the final stage, a Section Editor is assigned to perform copy-editing to ensure consistency in language, formatting, and presentation. Authors will be asked to review the final version prior to publication. After publication, the DOI will be activated and the publication link will be delivered via OJS and email notification.
