Abstrak

The area of Bandar Raya Bengkulu City is a densely populated residential area that has sewers as a place to dispose of household waste. This causes a lot of standing water in that place which has the potential to become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. This research aims to determine the variety of mosquito genera and the characteristics of breeding sites for each genus found. This research was conducted in February 2022 with sampling locations at seven different locations along Jalan Bandar Raya, Bengkulu City. The sample was observed at the Biology Learning Laboratory, Bengkulu University. The research was conducted observationally using descriptive methods. Mosquito larvae found in the Jalan Bandar Raya area of Bengkulu City come from 4 different genera, Aedes, Anopheles, Culex, and Chironomus. The most larvae found came from the Culex genus, while the Anopheles genus was the least common larvae found. The ditches with the characteristics that are not too deep, the water in the ditch does not flow, the color of the water in the breeding area is dark, and the presence of water waste that is thrown into the ditch is the place where most mosquito larvae genera are found, namely the Culex, Aedes and Anopheles. It is hoped that this research can help identify the characteristics of mosquito larvae breeding sites in order to prevent their spread.
