Abstract

The availability of electrical energy plays a crucial role for households and industries. Distribution transformers are vital components in electrical energy that play an important role in distributing electrical energy to consumers. Disruptions such as overload and overheating in transformers can occur and reduce the performance of the electrical distribution system. Therefore, it is important to monitor transformers. This research aims to design and create a transformer monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) using the Blynk application. The research results show that the monitoring system was successfully created and functions well in monitoring the temperature, current, and voltage of the transformer with high accuracy, 99.44% for temperature, 98.35% for current, and 98.09% for voltage. The transformer monitoring results can be accessed in real-time through the Blynk application. Additionally, the automation system works as expected by automatically shutting down the load and sending notifications to the user's smartphone when the temperature reaches the set point, which is >50°C.
