Abstract

The deep drawing process is a process or method that shapes metal plates and components, which is widely used in the manufacturing industry to produce cylindrical components or accurately shaped parts. However, this process often encounters defects such as wrinkling, ironing (thinning), and tearing, which can significantly reduce product quality. This step aims to analyze the influence of tooling processes on defects in the results of deep drawing. This research method uses a literature study method from various journals discussing the simulation of the deep drawing process on low carbon steel and aluminum A16111 materials. The aspects analyzed include the blank diameter, die clearance, die radius, and blank holder force (BHF). The analysis results show that a blank diameter that is too large can increase the risk of wrinkling and/or tearing, and a very small die radius can  It affects by causing excessive thinning in the material or even becoming too large, which can trigger material flow instability. Therefore, increasing BHF has been proven effective in reducing wrinkling defects at certain values. Thus, the deep drawing process is very necessary to minimize forming defects and to improve the quality of the final product.
